1) "Out to the hoghouse" replied Mrs Arable."Some pigs were born last night"."I don't see why he needs an ax" continued Fern who was only eight.
2)"Well" said her mother "one of the pigs is a runt. It's very small and weak and it will never amount to anything. So your father has decided to do away with it".
3) "Do away with it?" shouted Fern. "You mean kill it? Just because it's smaller than the others?"
4) "Don't yell Fern!" Mrs Arable said. "Your father is right. The pig would probably die anyway."

Mrs Arable said that some pigs had been ( можно оставить were в качестве факта рождения) born the previous night . Fern who was only eight said that she didn’t see why he needed an ax.

Her mother explained that one of the pigs was a runt and added it was very small and weak, it would never amount to anything. Her mother told her that Fern’s father had decided to do away with it.

Fern asked her mother if her father did away with it and she wondered if he killed it just because it was smaller than the others.

Mrs Arable asked Fern not to yell and said that her father was right ,the pig would probably die anyway.
