Put the verbs in the story in Past Simple or Past Continuous.
Jess (lie) on the beach when she (hear) someone calling for help. She (run) to the sea and (see) a small girl underwater just two meters from the shore. She (drown) when Jess (take) her out of water and (bring) her to her parents. They (have) a picnic near the car and (know/ not) the girl wasn’t there. Jess (tell) them to be more attentive to their children.
