The Wellingtons
Raymond and Hillary Wellington started Wellington Ranch in 1932. They 1 (bought) it for only U.S.$12. That 2 (was) a lot of money in those days. They 3 (built) a small house for the chickens. The cows 4 (lived) on the ranch, too. They 5 (did not have) any pigs, but they 6 (had) some sheep. The sheep 7 (did not live) on the ranch because they 8 (prefered) the mountains. The Wellingtons 9 (had) a son, Billy, in 1933. Billy 10 (helped) his parents on the ranch. Billy 11 (went) horseback riding with Raymond, and they sometimes 12 (camped) in the mountains with the sheep. Billy 13 (did not go) to school. Hillary 14 (taught) him in the evenings.
