The monument to the janitor in Balashikha invariably attracts the attention of passers-by. It was installed in 2007 in a small square next to the Pekhorka River. The janitor is dressed in classic clothes of the 19th century: boots, a cap and an apron. In his hands he holds a broom, and near his feet is a dog - a mongrel.
The monument is made of bronze, and the inscription "Janitor" is installed on its pedestal. That is how this word was written in pre-revolutionary Russia. At that time, the profession of a janitor was honorable and respected, in addition to cleaning the streets, he served as a ranger and guardian.
Unfortunately, at present the attitude towards janitors has changed significantly in a negative direction. With his comic sculpture, the author Igor Chernoglazov wanted to remind all passers-by about the importance of cleanliness in the city streets.
