Thank you for your letter. I'm happy to hear from you. I agree with your mum, I think every person should be involved in some interesting and useful activity for self-development and broadening his mind.
As for me, I rarely spend my days lazily. Even on weekends I find something useful to do. For example, one of my latest hobbies is swimming. I came up with it, because all members of my family are pretty good swimmers, so I decided to learn how to swim too. It is not only entertaining but also very useful! As for the after-class activities, I usually prefer to spend evening with a book, I like to read some classics. It is very interesting for me to analyze the issues that each author raises. It really helps to develop my mind. Apart from that, I would like to learn some foreign languages. I would like to learn Chinese because now it is the second international language after English.
Now, it's time for me to go to the swimming-pool.
