Mountains are always a special world where everything is a little different. At the foot of this world, in the foothills of the Trans-Ili Alatau, the beautiful city of Almaty is located. The mountains of the Trans-Ili Alatau are included in the mountain system of the Tien Shan. I must say that the Tien Shan is one of the highest (second after the Pamirs) mountain systems in the former Soviet Union. Prior to the founding of the city, around the VIII-X centuries, on the territory of modern Almaty there were several small settlements. One of them was allegedly called Almaty. Here lived the tribes of Saks and Usuns. At the beginning of the XIII century, this region, located on the Great Silk Road, was subjected to a devastating Mongol raid. After them, only a small part of Almatu was preserved, inhabited by settled and semi-settled Kazakh villages.
In 1854, a military fortification was built on the banks of Malaya Almatinka, which was called Zailiysky, and later Verny. A year later, Russian immigrants began to arrive here, and Vernoy began to develop rapidly. Soon in the fortification, there were already 5 thousand inhabitants. Gradually, Faithful turned into a small city.
