I just got back from a bachelor party in New Orleans the week before Mardi Gras, and holy crap, I love that place. The architecture, the music, the parades, the food — all incredible. The fact that this poor, beaten-down, mostly black American city has decided to fight storms, government incompetence, predatory development, and oppression with probably the most joyous, celebratory culture in the world is just mind-blowing.
